PRESENTATION CRITERIA

ABSTRACT CRITERIA - CLINICAL FUNDAMENTAL STUDY

- All abstracts must be written in English.
- All abstracts will be submitted in text boxes via our site, to be found when applying for active participation. This is to make sure a uniform style, lettertype and structure is used. 
- Abbreviations are explained between brackets.
- Structure of submitted abstracts: 

  1. Title: In upper case letters only.

  2. Introduction: State the aim of your work clearly.

  3. Materials and methods: Describe the design of your scientific approach, including the materials used, the method and the statistical criteria applied.

  4. Results: State the results of your study briefly.

  5. Conclusion: Describe the outcome of your study in relation to the original aim of your study.

- The maximum number of words in your abstract is 300, everything included (except for references). Please note that the AMSC will hold the right to shorten abstracts that pass this maximum amount of words. 

ABSTRACT CRITERIA - CASE REPORT

- All case reports will be presented using a poster. They cannot be presented using a PPT. This posterwalk is specifically for case reports only and will be judged separately from the clinical fundamental studies. 
- All abstracts will be submitted in text boxes via our site, to be found when applying for active participation. This is to make sure a uniform style, lettertype and structure is used. 
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- Abreviations must be explained between brackets.
- Structure of submitted abstracts:

  1. Title

  2. Introduction (patient info: initials, age, sex, signs and symptoms, physical exam modifications)

  3. Case history

  4. Investigations (pathologic changes only)

  5. Treatment/Results

  6. Discussions/Differential Diagnosis

  7. References (minimum 3)

- The maximum number of words in your abstract is 300, everything included (except for references). Please note that the AMSC will hold the right to shorten abstracts that pass this maximum amount of words. 

ABSTRACT CRITERIA - OTHER

- All abstracts must be written in English.
- Abbreviations must be explained between brackets.
- All abstracts will be submitted in text boxes via our site, to be found when applying for active participation. This is to make sure a uniform style, lettertype and structure is used. 
- Students presenting another form of abstract are asked to use the following structure as much as possible: 

  1. Title: In upper case letters only.

  2. Introduction: State the aim of your work clearly.

  3. Materials and methods: Describe the design of your scientific approach, including the materials used, the method and the statistical criteria applied.

  4. Results: State the results of your study briefly.

  5. Conclusion: Describe the outcome of your study in relation to the original aim of your study.

POSTER PRESENTATION CRITERIA - CLINICAL FUNDAMENTAL STUDY

Poster criteria

All posters have to be handed over, clearly labelled, to the AMSC team on Tuesday the 13th of September 2022.
- Structure



  1. Title: In upper case letters only.

  2. Introduction: State the aim of your work clearly.

  3. Materials and methods: Describe the design of your scientific approach, including the materials used, the method and the statistical criteria applied.

  4. Results: State the results of your study briefly.

  5. Conclusion: Describe the outcome of your study in relation to the original aim of your study.

  6. Key Words: Add 2-5 keywords of your abstract. 

- No abbreviations allowed, unless explained below in the poster
- Portrait orientation
- The maximum dimensions: 90 cm width and 120 cm height.
- The title should be large enough to be seen at a distance of 3 m.
- Make sure the structure is clear by using numbers or arrows.
- Create a suitable contrast for the audience to be able to read the text.
- Don't write too much information on the poster, use illustrative objects (images, figures, graphs, charts, tables) instead.
- No grammatical errors in the poster.
- There is no maximum number of words for the poster, however it must be readable from a distance.


Presentation criteria
- The presentation must be given in English. You are ought to be present in time, and to follow the presentations of your colleagues. 
- The presentation may only take 5 minutes, followed by 2 minutes of discussion. Time limits will be strictly enforced. If the time limit is exceeded, there will be points deducted by the jury as a penalty.
- Do not speak too fast, the presentation must be easy to follow.
- Avoid repetitions and too complicated terms.
- Try to focus on the main ideas of your research and illustrate these clearly.

POSTER PRESENTATION CRITERIA - CASE REPORT

Poster criteria

Each poster has to be handed over, clearly labelled, to the AMSC team no later than 9:00 a.m. CEST on the day of the corresponding poster presentation, or at any time during a previous congress day.

-  Structure 

  1. Title

  2. Introduction (patient info: initials, age, sex; signs and symptoms; physical exam modifications)

  3. Case history

  4. Investigations (pathologic changes ONLY)

  5. Treatment/Results

  6. Discussions/Differential Diagnosis

  7. References (minimum 3)

  8. Key Words

ORAL PRESENTATION CRITERIA

- All oral presentations must be given in English.
- The oral presentation may take a maximum of 7 minutes, followed by a 2 minute discussion. Time limits will be strictly enforced. If the time limit is exceeded, the jury will deduct points, as a penalty. 
- The maximum amount of slides is set at 25.
- Follow the structure mentioned above.
- Use enough contrast and an appropriate font size (20-30) in your slides so the audience is able to read the text.
- Avoid speaking too fast and watch your pronunciation.
- Avoid repetition and too complicated terms.
- Upload your PowerPoint presentation at amsc.be/upload before Sunday the 3rd of September 2023 (23:59 CEST).
- All PowerPoints have to be brought to the event on a USB stick as well.

Please mind that file formats other than PowerPoint for oral presentations will not be accepted. Exceptions cannot be made.
